I have been on maternity leave for 6 months and want to return. I would like to remain in the same role as a sales manager, but reduce my hours from 9.00-5.15 to 9.00-3.00 (but with no lunch) so I only miss out on 1 hour. My work is not happy about this. They have found me a sales role, which means a pay drop and with reduced hours this would make my life financially difficult.
I am a single parent on maternity leave and due to go back at the start of June 2008. I am contracted to a variable work pattern 5 days a week and 1 out of 3 saturdays. I am on approximately £13,000 a year full time and have no funding or contact with the father so no help with childcare. I need to change onto a fixed contract but can't afford full-time nursery care and need to work nursery compatible hours. I have been offered evening hours - impossible for me - and told there are limited morning shifts, but have not replied formally to my request. What are my options?
I am due to return to work at the end of this month as my maternity leave has ended, and I would like to know my rights. I have been told that an employer has to accomodate me until my child turns five, and I have also been told they have to accomodate me for the first six weeks after I return. Is either of these true? I am also a single parent: does this have any effect?
I'm due to finish work on 29.02.08 to have a baby, due on 08.04.08. I'm interested in working from home for the remaining weeks I have left before the baby's due or returning to work within 6 months of maternity leave, but working from home only. Would you be able to advise?
