I am due to return to work at the end of this month as my maternity leave has ended, and I would like to know my rights. I have been told that an employer has to accomodate me until my child turns five, and I have also been told they have to accomodate me for the first six weeks after I return. Is either of these true? I am also a single parent: does this have any effect?

I'm due to finish work on 29.02.08 to have a baby, due on 08.04.08. I'm interested in working from home for the remaining weeks I have left before the baby's due or returning to work within 6 months of maternity leave, but working from home only. Would you be able to advise?

I'm currently on maternity leave until September, and I work four afternoons (1.30 to 5.00pm) at a building society, which in total is 14 hours per week. I also have another child who will be starting school in September 2009. I'm wondering if I have any rights to change my working times ie so I would finish before 3pm when I return to work this September or whether I would have to wait and negotiate next year.
