I am currently seven months into maternity leave and have been informed that my role, along with over 100 others at the same level and above, have been put at risk of redundancy. There will be 50 roles in the new restructure at my current level. There is only one role I can apply for within the new structure due to location. My questions are: 1. If I apply for the role I would want to do the role part time - would they have to consider this? And when should I inform them that this would be my condition of accepting the role? 2. If I do not apply for one of the roles, where do I stand in terms of redundancy? I am on three months notice.…

I work for a public sector body and everyone below the senior management level is at risk of redundancy, due to a huge restructure. The consultation period ends soon and then there is a process outlined whereby people will have to apply for first choice jobs. If unsuccessful, you will then have to apply for your second choice job, and if still unsuccessful, there is a redepolyment pool. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and plan to take annual leave in July. My question is - should I start my maternity leave asap to safeguard my enhanced maternity payments or should I risk going through the process and potentially being made redundant?…

I line manage a team of 7 people and am currently on maternity leave after the birth of my second child. I will be returning in June following Ordinary Maternity Leave and some Additional Maternity Leave. Whilst I was on my first maternity leave, a member of my team stepped up to cover my role. On returning, things never quite went back to how it was before and for the year prior to my second maternity leave my role was diluted and we jointly had responsibility for managing the team. This was never addressed formally, but was encouraged by senior management due to a growth in our workload. In fact, prior to my return my manager said that I couldn't expect my maternity cover to just drop back to what she was doing before. At my annual review just before going on maternity leave, although they were very happy with my performance, I was given an increase significantly less than the ones I had been handing out to my team because I wasn't going to be there in the coming months. Does this count as treating me less favourably than my colleagues because of pregnancy/maternity leave? Prior to finishing this time, we had meetings with senior management about a restructure of our team over the coming months. My question is how much involvement should I have in these changes whilst on maternity leave and does my employer have an obligation to keep me updated? What are my rights when I return from AML?…

I am 17 weeks pregnant and my public sector organisation is going through a restructure. The senior management level is the first to be restructured. The initial impression was that the next level, my level, would be done in the next stage. My pool has been announced - three jobs for four people. Hence a process. I told my employer last week I was pregnant. Now the process is being hurried up and my level is being brought forward. I am very worried and feel this is being done because I am pregnant. Do I have any legal rights?…

I work for a local authority which is currently undergoing a process to find savings. As part of this all the senior managers are undertaking reviews of their service - this includes re-writing most job descriptions. I have just found out I am pregnant but am concerned that if I inform my manager this will result in a reduction in the experience required for my role - there is no one in the organisation that could currently meet the existing person specification as no one has the length of experience required. There is pressure to minimise external recruitment and fill places through redeployment, but to cover my maternity leave internally the job would have to be de-skilled. If I tell my manager that I am pregnant will I be able to challenge any changes that down grade my post?…
