Can an employee request to be made redundant during the redundancy process due to the stress of the ongoing process? My wife is due to leave work in three weeks and today has been advised she's in a pool of people for redundancy. It may be beneficial for her to be made redundant so can we request this on medical grounds?

I have recently returned to work [in August] following my maternity leave. Whilst I was off, the department has gone through a restructuring and half my job has been given to other colleagues. I think they were hoping I would come back part time, but I am working full time. I have also been excluded from committees I previously sat on and new ones being formed without any explanation. I did know about the restructure and attending a meeting in September 2010, but didn't hear anything from the company after that. I feel like I have been demoted just because I've been off and there hardly seems to be a job here for me. It is now affecting my health and I am depressed and unable to sleep at night. Are they allowed to change my duties to this extent without consulting me prior to my return to work?

I returned to work after taking nine months off for maternity leave. I have returned part time, working three days a week. The lady who was covering my job is now employed full time and on the same 'rank' as myself. Since I have returned to work, I have not returned to the same job as the lady who covered my job has taken that over full time. Please can you tell me where I stand as to returning to work part time and not to the job I left. I'm sure I am entitled to return to exactly the same job whether this meant I do my job on the three days I work and the other lady cover the two days that I'm not there.

I am 17 weeks pregnant, my public sector organisation is going through a restructure. The senior management level is being restructured first. The impression was the next level, my level, would be done in the next stage. My pool has been announced - three jobs for four people. Hence a process. I told my employer last week I was pregnant. Now the process is being hurried up and my level is being brought forward. I am very worried and feel this is being done because I am pregnant. Do I have any legal rights?

I recently changed jobs due to being made redundant. I have been with my new company since the start of May this year, so less than 26 weeks.
I recently applied for a new job with a different company as I wanted part-time work. I got the part-time position and have handed in my notice.
(currently working notice of 4 weeks). Since handing in my notice I have found out that I'm four weeks pregnant. I need some advice as to whether I will be able to claim anything? I take it I won't beable to claim SMP. Would I be better off staying with my present employer?
