There has been restructuring whilst I am on maternity leave. I was asked if I wanted a new role which was similar to the one I held previously (this was additional responsibilities to my main role). I said that I would accept this if I had to return to work full time (as I was going through a flexible working appeal). My appeal was refused. Then during informal discussions it was verbally agreed that I could return part time for one year and someone else would do my additional responsibilities and I would then pick them up after the agreed part time period.
Days later I was told that I couldn't return part time so I assumed that I would return full time with the additional responsibilities, as I had previously agreed to. In a subsequent meeting I was told, in an off the cuff remark, that my additional responsibilities had been given to someone else. At the time I didn't say anything as I was still negotiating for a part-time return. However, now I have been told that I have to return full time and someone else is currently doing my additional responsibilities. I am not happy that I am returning on the same contract eg full time,
but my management role has been taken away from me- even if it is only for a year (and to be honest, I am not sure that I trust this would be the case!). I have had 12 months maternity. Can I refuse to have my responsibility taken away from me, given that I said I wanted to keep it if I returned full time?

I work in a US bank in the City. They are restructuring but say they are not making any redundancies. I work a compressed week - five days in four - and am reluctant to give up my fifth day, when I pick up and drop my children at school. What are my rights if they say that only full-time positions are available? I have worked part-time and then compressed hours for several years with my contract having been changed to incorporate this.…

After returning from maternity leave I was told I can work part-time hours. On my first day back I was told I can only do this for one month and after that it will be back to full time. I understand that maybe this is a business need, but can they be allowed to treat me like this? The initial agreement was made over the phone and not in writing.…

I am currently on maternity leave and moved away from the area where I used to live a few months ago. I work in the IT Industry and the company I work for tends to encourage home working and all the necessary solutions are in place and I have for years worked form home at last one day a week. I contacted my employer earlier in the year requesting flexible working (part time and working from home) and they asked me to contact them again in June, which I did. They emailed me to inform me that they couldn't agre to the terms I requested and could have a meeting to discuss further. We then met with HR at the end of July and i explained I am prepared to work full time and look at a different or more junior role, but would have to be home based. They said they would come back to me within 14 days, but took until 19th August (my statutory mat pay finishes at the and of August). Unfortunately they can't offer me any role within the copmany that is home based. Now what? Do I have to resign from my role?…

I am currently on maternity leave and the company I am working for is possibly going into liquidation. I am scheduled to return to work after Easter 2012. At the moment I am still due three months full pay, then SMP until February 2012 and then a month's holiday pay (carried over from this year's holiday allowance). Should the company close what is still owed to me and how will I go about putting a claim in for it? All I have been told
at the moment is that should the company go under I will have to claim the SMP directly from HMRC. Will I be owed the 3 months salary, any accrued holiday pay and any redundancy?
