About us

WorkingMums.co.uk is brought to you by a small team of working parents. Founded by working mum Gillian Nissim, the team at Working Mums know what its like to try and find jobs and business opportunities that are challenging and rewarding, but which also offer flexibility. As employers, we also know that it is not always easy to find really good, experienced and committed people on a part-time basis, or for a short-term project cost effectively.

As parents, we’ve experienced the issues associated with going back to work after an extended period at home, suffered crises of confidence, undergone career changes and managed (and are still managing) our way through the ups and downs of combining parenthood with work we enjoy.

That's why we're building a database of jobs, employers and business opportunities that offers alternatives to traditional 9-5, Monday to Friday roles. It’s also why WorkingMums.co.uk offers much more than jobs and business opportunities. From information and advice, news and working mums' blogs, we're building a community of working mums across the country - sharing news, views, experiences and information with working mums everywhere.

Dads and carers ....

While working mums are what we know about best, we hope that Dads and other carers will also find the jobs and information on our website relevant and useful to them too . WorkingMums.co.uk welcomes Dads, carers and other flexible job seekers.

Who we are:

Gillian Nissim - Founder
A former Senior Communications Executive, Gillian realised when she started a family that there was a huge potential in connecting employers who need skilled professionals on a part time or temporary basis and mums who want a degree of flexibility in their jobs to maximise the time they can spend with their children.

Having worked at a number of different organisations with very different cultures and attitudes towards family friendly working policies, Gillian decided to set up her own company to cater for the businesses who did appreciate the vast experience and high calibre of professionals who had become mums and wanted to find challenging and interesting jobs that offered more flexibility than traditional office-based Monday- Friday, 9-5 jobs. A graduate of Birmingham University, Gillian lives with her husband and two boys (aged four and two) in North London.

Julie Harwood, Sales Director
With two boys herself (aged eleven and eight), and having resumed a career in media, Julie understands the challenges faced with juggling a successful career and a happy balanced family life. Prior to WorkingMums, Julie spent 15 years in the Media Broadcast Industry across both Sales and Operations balancing various full and part time roles. Now, she is channelling her energy into WorkingMums.co.uk - a concept she feels passionate about. Julie works from her home in East Sussex.

Rachael Wenham, Sales Executive
Rachael joined WorkingMums in 2007 after having her second child. Prior to this she spent five years working in recruitment and four years managing a team where she was the recruiter. She has two children, a son of six and a daughter aged eleven months.

Mandy Garner, Web Editor
Before WorkingMums, Mandy was features editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement for nearly eight years and is a freelance journalist/editor. She has three children, aged eight, four and two and lives in Essex.

Annika Williams, Marketing
Annika joined WorkingMums in 2007 after spending 9 years as the marketing manager at a publicly quoted Media and Events company. A marketing graduate from Leeds University Business School, Annika has one daughter aged four, and lives and works in Bedfordshire.
