Workingmums.co.uk was founded by senior communications manager Gillian Nissim in 2006 after the birth of her second child. She found herself and many of her friends in a similar position, needing flexible yet challenging work, but not being able to find it. The business has grown fast and now employs 14 staff, many of whom are working mums.

As working parents, we’ve experienced the issues associated with going back to work after an extended period at home, suffered crises of confidence, undergone career changes and managed (and are still managing) our way through the ups and downs of combining parenthood with work we enjoy. We know what it is like to try and find jobs and business opportunities that are challenging and rewarding, but which also offer flexibility.

As employers, we also know that it is not always easy to find really good, experienced and committed people - and know that offering a range of flexible working practices - including full time with flexible hours, part time, compressed hours, homeworking and term time only - can really help secure the perfect employee.

Who we work with

We work with hundreds of employers - from large corporate firms to small businesses, and have a large database of professional women seeking work in a wide variety of fields. Candidates register for free and can file their CVs, whilst employers pay a small fee to post their job on the site and contact candidates who match their requirements. More than a jobsite

 

Workingmums.co.uk also offers much more than job opportunities. Mums can also search for small business and self-employed opportunities in our Business-Zone and Franchise-Zone, where franchisors can seek to expand their brand by reaching thousands of potential franchisees. We also offer advice, news and working mums' blogs, in order to share news, views, experiences and information with working mums everywhere.

Meet the team

Gillian Nissim - Founder
A former Senior Communications Executive, Gillian has worked at a number of different organisations with very different cultures and attitudes towards family friendly working policies. After the birth of her second child she decided to set up her own company to cater for the businesses who did appreciate the vast experience and high calibre of professionals who had become mums, and wanted to find challenging and interesting jobs that offered more flexibility than traditional office-based Monday- Friday, 9-5 jobs. A graduate of Birmingham University, Gillian lives with her husband and two boys in North London.

Sales Team

Emma Kennedy, Head of Sales
Emma started her career as an Aircraft Engineer, before changing focus after the birth of her eldest daughter. Emma's corporate sales experience has spanned various aspects of the HR cycle, including psychometrics, training and  recruitment advertising. Emma started at Workingmums in August 2010 and progressed to Head of Sales where she now manages the sales team and the overall sales strategy.  Emma lives in Surrey with her husband and two daughters.

Rachael Wenham, Key Account Manager - Franchise
Rachael joined Workingmums in 2007 after having her second child. Prior to this she spent five years working in recruitment and four years managing a team where she was the recruiter. She has two children, a son of seven and a daughter aged three.

Tori Al-Shaikhly, Strategic Account Manager
Tori joined Workingmums in 2010 from a leading graduate publisher, having started her career as a copywriter. Working extensively with the public and third sector, Tori has launched a number of leading publications and websites, and now manages the Top Employer and corporate accounts. She lives in East London with her husband.

Tom Glanfield, Senior Account Manager
Tom joined Workingmums in November 2010  from a leading graduate recruitment website. Having been in Sales for the last 6 years, Tom is a Senior Account Manager and looks after medium to large accounts. Tom lives in Ealing, West London with his girlfriend.

Wayne Lashley, Telesales Account Manager
Wayne joined Workingmums in 2010 having worked in sales for a leading publishing company for over two years. Wayne acts as a Telesales Account Manager and is based in South London. Wayne is responsible for managing small and medium sized enterprises.

Marketing Team

Annika Williams, Candidate Marketing
Annika joined Workingmums in 2007 after spending nine years as the marketing manager at a publicly quoted Media and Events company. A marketing graduate from Leeds University Business School, Annika has two daughters, and lives and works in Bedfordshire

Arline Wilkins, Business to Business
A Chartered Marketer, Arline has over ten years experience working across the marketing mix, in both the public and private sector. Arline has a 3 year old son and works from home. 

Web Team

Mandy Garner, Web Editor
Before Workingmums, Mandy was features editor of the Times Higher Education Supplement for nearly eight years and currently divides her time between editing for WorkingMums, and acting as the press officer for a higher education institution. She has four children and lives in Essex. Read Mandy's blog.

Events Team


Sally Bradley, Events Manager
With over 15 years event management experience in launching and managing multi-sector events, Sally joined Workingmums in April 2010 to help identify and launch the WorkingMums range of events. She lives and works from home in Shropshire and has 2 young boys.

Katie Cleary, Key Account Manager for Events
Katie has over 10 years experience in corporate sales and account management in a career spanning a variety of sectors including publishing, media, IT and public affairs. She joined Workingmums in spring 2009 and has recently returned part time from maternity leave after giving birth to a baby daughter. Katie’s main focus is to establish key companies and organisations that would benefit from attending, sponsoring or exhibiting at the Workingmums events.

Finance Team

Yvonne Lim, Financial Controller
A Qualified Accountant, Yvonne has worked in a number of organisations from owner managed businesses to large blue chip PLCs, with experience working in the public healthcare sector and private retail and media sectors. Yvonne is based in Buckinghamshire with her husband and young daughter.


Team Support

Tarryn Rothstein, Team Co-Ordinator
Tarryn joined workingmums early in 2008. With her background in sales and having worked for Douwe Egberts for eight years coupled with her extensive PC skills, Tarryn now co-ordinates many of the day to day Workingmums tasks. Tarryn lives with her husband and two young boys in Hertfordshire.
