	<strong>Purpose of Post:</strong></p>
<ul><li>
		Supervision of a team of four Targeted Support Workers.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Delivering legal information and advice related to domestic violence and abuse.</li>
</ul><p style="margin-left:18pt;">

<ul><li>
		Providing legal advice on matters related to immigration and asylum to&#160; victims of domestic violence and abuse to the standard of the Office of the Immigration Services&#8217; Commissioner&#8217;s Level Two.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Receiving referrals for the organisation&#8217;s refuge accommodation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Undertaking telephone assessments of applicants for refuge accommodation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Maintaining a computerised database of essential information related to the profile of clients.</li>

<p>
	<strong>Main Areas of Responsibility </strong></p>
<p>
	1.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Information and Advice</span></p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.1&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Providing information and advice to users of the service and members of the public, by telephone and face to face, at the Advice Centre and at other locations as required.</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.2&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Liaising with the Joint Chief Executives and informing the Targeted Support Workers where appropriate for admissions to refuges when a telephone assessment has been completed, and making referrals to other refuges and agencies as appropriate.</p>

	&#160;</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.3&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Identifying and maintaining appropriate sources of information in accessible forms for use by clients and the organisation, including assisting the Joint Chief Executives in undertaking research, and maintaining an up to date directory of resources for use by the organisation&#8217;s staff.</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.4&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Maintaining quality assurance and other records in the required manner in accordance with accreditation requirements.</p>
<p>
	2.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Client Services</span></p>
<ul><li>
		Ensuring that legal advice and information available to service users and the organisation&#8217;s staff is timely and accurate, and is delivered and recorded at all times in accordance with the requirements of the relevant regulatory bodies.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensuring the appropriate retention and renewal of professional knowledge required to fulfil the role.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Implementing the organisation&#8217;s policies and procedures in relation to information and advice services offered by the organisation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Providing appropriate information about the organisation, and domestic violence, and abuse for displays and events involving the general public and for conferences.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Participating in the provision of external and internal training, giving talks to external audiences and groups of service users.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Liaising with agencies offering a similar advice service to that offered by the organisation, sharing ideas for service enhancement and good practice and advising the Joint Chief Executives of any identified areas in which the service could reasonably be modified.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Being aware of the potential for racial and/or other forms of harassment or discrimination within the refuges, groups of service users and the organisation, and working positively to challenge any such harassment to achieve a positive outcome for all parties.</li>
</ul><p>
	3.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Management</span></p>
<ul><li>
		Supervise through formal and informal processes four Targeted Support Workers.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Attending weekly Monday morning handover meetings for all refuge services&#8217; staff.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Attending organisational updating meetings and training.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Consulting immediately with the Joint Chief Executives in the case of any disclosure made by a client in relation to the abuse of children.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Consulting immediately with the Joint Chief Executives in any case where there is particular concern about a client&#8217;s behaviour which may impact upon herself, other service users or staff of the organisation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Implementing health and safety fire procedures within the Advice Centre.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Implementing security measures within the Advice Centre.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensuring obvious defects in the office property, its fittings and its equipment are reported promptly to the Joint Chief Executives.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensuring proper and effective communication is maintained with all parts of the organisation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Attending regular team and full staff meetings as required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Being available for formal supervision sessions as required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Undertaking any other duties which may be reasonably required by the Joint Chief Executives.</li>
</ul><p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Person Specification</span></p>
<p>
	The following skills and experience are essential to this role:</p>
<ul><li>
		Qualification in Housing Management, Social Work, Nursing or Teaching or relevant substantial experience (minimum 2 years)</li>
	<li>
		Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear notes and short written reports</li>
	<li>
		Possess a full UK driving licence</li>
	<li>
		An effective team worker, possession of good listening skills and the ability to relate quickly to a wide variety of people</li>
