	Hours:&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; 31 hours (Evenings 4.30 pm &#8211; Overnight &#8211; 8.00 am</p>

<p>
	Purpose of Post:</p>
<div>
	<ul><li>
			To work as part of the Target Support Worker team to ensure the effective running of the refuge, and providing appropriate support to service users who have substance/alcohol misuse issues</li>
	</ul></div>
<p>
	Main areas of responsibility:</p>
<p>
	1.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Resident Support</span></p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.1&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; To share responsibility with the day staff team for the evening, weekend and overnight operations of the refuge and welfare of service users, dealing with issues as and when they arise and working on own initiative.</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.2&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; To work with individual service users to provide encouragement and support&#160; and comply with substance/alcohol reduction treatment.&#160; Discuss any concerns/information with relevant Targeted Support Workers for further support.</p>

<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	1.3&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; To work with other staff and service users to ensure the efficient and effective running of the refuge and undertake the following duties as necessary:</p>
<p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<ol><li>
		Attend hand-over meetings with staff from the previous and next shift.</li>
</ol><ol><li>
		Maintaining health and safety standards.</li>
</ol><ol><li>
		Repair or arranging for the repair of buildings, furniture and fittings if safety is an issue.</li>
</ol><ol><li>
		Maintaining security of the refuge and service users.</li>
</ol><p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<ol><li>
		Ensure refuge is kept clean.</li>
</ol><ol><li>
		Ensure the service users comply with the rules and regulations within refuge.</li>
</ol><ol><li>
		Administration &#8211; answer telephone, record all appropriate messages and maintain necessary systems.</li>
</ol><p style="margin-left:36pt;">
	&#160;</p>
<ol><li>
		Deal with out of hours advice queries.</li>
</ol><p>
	1.4&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Whenever necessary follow the admission or eviction procedure.</p>
<ol><li>
		<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Management</span></li>
</ol><ul><li>
		Attend regular full staff meetings as required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Be available for formal work reviews/supervision appraisal as agreed with Team Leader.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Consulting immediately with the Safeguarding Lead, or the Team Leader, or in their absence a member of the Senior Management Team, in the case of any disclosure being made by service users in relation to the abuse of children or safeguarding vulnerable adults.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensure all monitoring systems are complied to, reports submitted when requested by the Team Leader and relevant records updated and completed at the end of each shift.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensure equal opportunities for all service users are complied to within the refuge, challenge any unacceptable behaviour that may cause offence or distress to other service users.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Being aware of the potential for racial and/or other forms of harassment or discrimination within the refuges and the organisation and working positively to challenge any such harassment with a positive outcome for all parties.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		To ensure your own personal safety and the safety of service users report to the Orbit Response Unit at the beginning and end of any journey made in the course of the work and ensure that your mobile phone is charged and always switched on during duty.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Consulting immediately with the Team Leader or in her absence a member of the Senior Management Team, in any case where there is a particular concern about a service user&#8217;s behaviour, which may impact upon the service user herself, or upon others.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Ensuring proper and appropriate communication is maintained between the refuge support staff and all relevant parts of the organisation.</li>
</ul><ul><li>
		Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be required by the Senior Management Team.&#160;&#160;&#160;</li>
</ul><p style="margin-left:36pt;">

<p>
	<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Person Specification</span></p>
<p>
	The following skills, experience and qualifications are essential:</p>
<ul><li>
		Qualification in housing Management, social work, nursing or teaching or relevant substantial experience (minimum 2 years)</li>
	<li>
		Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear notes and short reports</li>
	<li>
		Computer literate</li>
	<li>
		A full UK driving licence</li>
	<li>
		Possession of good listening skills and the ability to relate quickly to a wide variety of people</li>
	<li>
		Able to understand and maintain confidential working practices</li>
	<li>
		Able to prioritise workload and cope well under pressure</li>
</ul><p>
	Knowledge/experience of issues around substance misuse will be desirable.</p>
