Overall Job Purpose
Senior IT Project manager with experience of delivering complex application upgrades and software development projects with budgets in the region of £5-10 million. Previous pensions or annuities experience is a must.
 
The role is to own the IT elements of a number of projects while at the same time managing a large support function, which involves the development and implementation of information systems to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, time and quality.
The relevant person needs to demonstrate initiative, drive, inspiration and passion.  You need to have a 'can do' attitude and be able to come up with lateral solutions to complex problems. You need to be forward thinking and build strong relationships with business stakeholders.
 
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
* Establish and manage strong, respected and trusted relationships with key Senior Management Stakeholders whilst proactively promoting PruIT as an organisation that delivers technical solutions which maximise Pru UK business benefit
* Proactively manage and take ownership and accountability for either a given platform, area of responsibility or project(s), including budget, resources, project delivery, on going support and customer relationship
* Accountable for all stages of project delivery and/or support services, ensuring change is delivered on time, on quality and on budget to the satisfaction of the customer
* Build, manage, coach, inspire, and motivate the team to deliver benefit to the business whilst ensuring their skills and experience are developed
* Support Senior Management Team in shaping of ideas through creative thinking and recognising / exploiting technology related opportunities
* Produce and maintain accurate plans and provide regular updates on progress to senior managers and stakeholders and give credible overviews to the business as required
* Identify, manage, communicate, and resolve key risks and issues
* Positively challenge the business on requirements, needs and/or outputs as required. Identify, evaluate and agree the technical solution with the project board and key stakeholders.  Ensure alignment with PruIT strategic direction / goals maximising technology opportunities and minimising rework and wasted effort
* Identify, acquire and release resources according to demand, identifying and addressing skills gaps where appropriate whilst managing associated costs against the overall planned budget
* Commercially manage external suppliers / partnerships and assist in evaluation of 3^rd Parities during project initiation
* Deputise for Head of Systems, and for other managers on other platforms
* Be responsible for the timely cascade of PruIT and company-wide communications, where appropriate (e.g. Breaking News). Promote and lead by example adherence to the company's core values and key performance indicators
* Understand and adhere to Prudential's Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies.  This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements
* Ensure all expenditure commitments (orders, contracts, budgets etc) and all payments are properly authorised, controlled and monitored, in accordance with Prudential UK delegated authority requirements. The responsibilities of expenditure authorisers are documented in the Prudential UK Financial Procedures Manual.
* Ensure PruIT support post-implementation lessons learned for designated deliveries
* Maintain a "Big Picture" view of Pru's corporate strategy and target operating models to enable effecitve prioritisation and direction fo programmes / projects to maximise benefits
* Develop and maintian a high-level view of all designated current and potential projects and programmes throughout the full life cycle to understand progress and contrbution is in line with business and IT strategy
* Act as an appropriate escalation point to own and resolve PruIT wide issues and mitigate recognised risk as appropriate
* Be commercially aware of competitive developments in the financial services market, whilst keeping abreast of issues relating to the business area's service delivery, so as to be able to proactively propose benefit realisation opportunities
* Accountable for promoting business awareness within PruIT and technology awareness with key business stakeholders
* To demonstrate a positive risk, compliance and control culture through the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of risks and issues within the business area, alongside ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, actions and failures that arise.
 
Job Dimensions - Financial
* Cumulative  BAU and Enhancement budget likely to be £5-10m
* Accountable for the initiation, delivery and realisation of benefits in respect of the IT elements of projects with a Cumulative IT project costs under management are likely to be in the range of £300K to £10m
