Job Details

In this key role at the frontline of our business, you’ll manage a team of both managerial and frontline staff, ensuring the operation, delivering mail to over 30 million addresses in the UK, is running as efficiently as possible.

About the role

As an operational manager assuming overall accountability for the Pontyclun Delivery Office, you’ll lead a team of approximately 38 employees, supporting them through our exciting transformation journey. Working closely alongside trade union representatives, you’ll ensure your team understands the commercial and competitive market we are in.

They’ll need to be customer focussed, open to new technology, and flexible to change. Utilising your first-rate change management experience, you’ll be responsible for safeguarding the performance of your unit; meeting budgetary targets, and ensuring quality of service for our customers, along with responsibility for the overall safety of the people you manage.

You will be the prime representative for your office and actively promote customer service opportunities whilst having a strong track record of delivering performance through your personal leadership of teams in a changing operational environment.

Shift Pattern

Monday – Saturday with a rotating day off. Typical hours are 6.30am – 3pm.

About You

In our operation people are our biggest asset! If you can lead, motivate and inspire people to achieve great things, even in the most challenging of circumstances, then what are you waiting for?

You’ll need a high level of emotional intelligence to engage and influence your fellow staff members into creating a winning team to support you. In addition, you’ll have a passion to consistently improve results, helping us drive relentless change for the benefit of both our people and our customers.

With the ability to effectively problem solve in a fast paced operational environment, you’ll also be IT literate and competent in Microsoft programmes. You’ll provide coaching and advice, while keeping the whole operation running smoothly. Your experience might be within retail, FMCG, or logistics, but your ability to motivate, inspire and lead is what we’re looking for. With a budget of circa £400,000, you’ll have an eye for detail and be confident in efficiently managing resources and budgets – all with a view to ensure your sector is working at its very best.
