About the role

Sense are looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our team as a Communicator Guide in the Finchley area. This is a part time role working 4 hours per week in a community setting.

Communicator Guides offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments; you will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You’ll be there to act as the eyes and ears of the individual – to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely.

This role will involve working with an individual in their home and the local community; they would like support to access activities such as social events, going to the pub with friends, shopping, and home administrative tasks.

You must be able to work flexible hours to suit the service requirements and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

About you

We would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people in a community setting, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment. A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.

A full UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this role as is the ability to support someone in a wheelchair. Due to the needs of the individual we support, you must be able to communicate in clear, spoken English.
