About the role

Sense are looking for reliable and motivated people with great communication skills to join our professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor) across the Hertfordshire and Greater London Areas. We have a number of flexible, part time opportunities available across days, evenings and weekends including:

  • Waltham Cross: 3-4 hours support after school each week.
  • Hatfield: 2 hours support per week.
  • Stevenage: 2 hours support in an evening.

An Intervenor provides one-to-one support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments – known as congenital deafblindness. The day-to-day role of an Intervenor varies dependant on the needs of the individual, the nature of the sensory impairment and the ways they wish to communicate. You will enable them to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication.

This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required.

About you

It would be great if you have experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities, complex needs, and / or multisensory impairments. The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or a similar relevant qualification.

Due to the communication needs of the individuals we support, we are particularly interested in candidates with British Sign Language skills.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.
