We had an amazing 2018 so far, which has included seeing Wagon Wheels featured on the Great British Bake Off and our Llantarnam site featuring on ITV4 as part of their documentary 'Made in Britain'. Along with having amazing brands, we've have secured a long term agreement to allow us to manufacturing a number of Mars Biscuit branded products, we are also forming key strategic partnerships within the Retailer Private Label sector. Why work as part of our Systems Development team?

‘Why would you not want to?’ Is the question we should really be asking… you’ll get to work with some really bright people and really make a difference.

In this key role you’ll lead our journey to the Modern Workplace. We have committed to the Microsoft Office 365 stack and are building some solutions in Teams, PowerBi and PowerApps. We need you to lead, train, coach, cajole and encourage our user population into full adoption of Office 365, and help them exploit the benefits of the Digital Workplace. We expect you to be imaginative and innovative in how you help our colleagues on the business journey.

What does your typical day look like?

Well there isn’t a typical day – we are innovators, so every day should be different, and every day should present you with challenge.

You may be presenting your vision to stakeholders, delivering training, or coaching people who just need that extra bit of help. Equally, you may be designing or developing solutions to help move our business along.

We don’t believe in standing in the way of people’s talent, so you’ll have a high degree of autonomy to set your agenda and plan your outcomes. We want you to be successful, so the team will always be there to help and share the load.

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

This role would be great for anyone currently working in IS who is ready to break out of the back office or wants to share their vision of the Modern Digital Workplace. Your ability to communicate and lead effectively are as important as your technical skills, which should include familiarity with the O365 stack.

You will be leading people to a better digital workplace so your ability to inspire confidence and deliver what you say is paramount.  

Final part of the mix.

To be successful in this role at Burton’s you’ll be experienced in an IS role within a fast paced sector, ideally with in the FMCG or retail sector would be ideal but isn’t essential. You’ll need experience of dealing with senior stakeholders across, for example in this role you will get to work with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Project & Marketing. Equally you should have the ability to engage with the unsung heroes when they are struggling or the objectors when they are rebelling.

You’ll need to have good systems savvy, but at the same time be able to build strong relationships founded on trust.
