Sense are looking for reliable and motivated people to work as Senior Support Workers (Communicator Guides). Our Communicator Guides offer support to adults with a range of complex needs, including sensory impairments, and work to ensure all the people we support are able to lead active and fulfilling lives. 

We have various roles available across the West Country and we will aim to find you a suitable placement in your geographical area.  We are keen to hear from people who live or would like to work in any of the following areas: Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset and Wiltshire  With this in mind we are keen to hear from people who live and would like to work in any of the following areas: Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset and Wiltshire.  We have various casual and permanent contracts available and we are looking for people with a range of availability across days, evenings, weekends and/or school holidays.

You will be there to support individuals to do the things they want to do, acting as their eyes and ears, supporting with communication, ensuring that information is presented in a clear and accessible way.  The support you provide may be in someone's home, or within the local community.

About you 

We would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment. A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You will need to be able to creatively solve problems that may arise using a person-centred approach and ideally have experience of using person-centred planning tools.

You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.

Some of our individuals use British Sign Language (BSL) so we are particularly keen to hear from anyone who is already able to communicate in this way, though training will be provided.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.
