East Renfrewshire Council's Homeless Service seeks to appoint a Housing Advisor to join a small specialist team of officers who investigate households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and offer tailored advice in accordance with Council policy, legislation and the Code of Guidance.
The Housing Advisor will review housing options with applicants, providing advice, assistance and assess applicants for support, and where appropriate signposting to relevant support services in accordance with the Council's duty under homeless legislation.
A clear understanding of current homeless legislation is essential. Candidates should have experience of working in a homeless environment and be able to demonstrate experience of homeless investigation casework and working collaboratively with agencies and support providers.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
