As a finance apprentice, you are a key member of our finance team within the Anglia route. Every single day you will liaise and influence with colleagues across all departments and at all levels. As a Finance professional, you'll inform multi-million-pound decisions and directly influence the development, growth and operation of our railway - improving the railway for our 6 million passengers each year.

Your days will be dynamic, growing you into an imperative part of our team. You will be mentored and developed by the rest of the finance team, involving:

  • forecasting
  • budgeting
  • reporting
  • taking the lead on meetings and
  • reporting to senior members of the company

As an Apprentice you will rotate placements across a wide range of departments within the Anglia route including assisting on the front line at our Delivery Unit's. You can come to work proud every single day knowing that you will building the plans for our railway and our people.

  • Assisting with periodic financial reports and forecasting
  • Providing support with ad hoc projects as dictated by the business area
  • Undertaking ad hoc accounting assistance and general administrative duties work as required
  • Completion of an investigation and report of your findings

During the first two and a half years you will complete the AAT qualification alongside gaining business knowledge during various team rotations within Anglia. Upon completion you could move on to CIMA to become a chartered accountant while having the chance to work in some of our national teams.

Essential

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent, with GCSE English and Mathematics grades A*-C or equivalent
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to integrate with and operate as a great teammate
  • Ability to work in a delivery focused and challenging working environment
  • Ability to manage activities within agreed timelines as well as balancing work and exams
  • Strong business insight and an aptitude for numbers.
  • Relevant A level exams and a dedication to progressing on to Professional qualifications.

We follow a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be: £ 17,000. This increases to £20,000 in year 2 and £23,000 year 3. On top of this you will receive a £3100 Inner London Allowance.

Network Rail align with UK Government standards when carrying out pre-employment checks for all new starters; this includes a basic criminal record check. In addition to this, we are also required to verify your identity, right to work in the UK and previous three years employment history.
