C&I has worked closely with current service users and Trust staff to create a set of shared values that make sure people who use the Trust's services get the best possible chance of a rapid recovery. These values are embedded in the campaign: Changing Lives - will help drive up the standards of care across the Trust. For people who use the C&I's services, these values meant that they can be assured that through their journey to recovery they will be guaranteed:

• To receive a warm welcome through their journey to recovery
• That their dignity will always be respected
• That their care will be founded on compassion and kindness
• To receive a positive approach to care as they journey towards recovery
• High Quality Care from a highly trained team of professionals
• That each individual will be part of the wider team in the journey to recovery -
i.e. 'no decision about you, without you'.

C&I staff are required to reflect these values throughout their service at the Trust both:
• for people who use the services of the Trust, AND
• within their immediate teams and across the wider business of C&I.

As an applicant for this role, you are urged to demonstrate within your supporting statement a combination of evidence that reflects your competence to meet the job specification and provide examples of how C&I values are an integral part of the way you have and will continue to deliver service.

Camden and Islington are looking to recruit a part time (6 PAs) Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to a community post based in the  North Islington Recovery and Rehabilitation Team. This is a multi-disciplinary team specialising in the community treatment of people with psychotic illnesses. The post is based at the Lowther Road Centre in Islington.  The service is part of the new Integrated Practice Unit for psychosis and chronic conditions, which integrates patients mental and physical health care pathways and aims to reduce the mortality and morbidity from physical illnesses for people with psychosis.

The post-holder will be supported by junior medical input; a Higher Trainee, part-time Core Trainee and part-time FY2 doctor. The post-holder will work alongside another substantive consultant in the  R&R Team and be supported by the Clinical Director Dr Ian Prenelle. There is secretarial cover and office facilities provided. They will be supported in pursuing appropriate continuing professional development.

The Trust became a Foundation Trust in February 2008 and continues as a mental health organisation. It has well established links with the United Royal Free and University College London medical schools and the North London Junior and higher Psychiatric training schemes.

Islington is an exciting multicultural Central London borough and the team is based close to the heart of the varied shops, cafes and cultural amenities in the area.

This post is a great opportunity to gain consultant experience in a well functioning community recovery team and to participate in an important service innovation. Applicants should have their CCT or be within their last year of training.

MRCPsych, full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice is essential.
