Social Services for Children

Location: County Offices, Flint, Flintshire

We are now looking to recruit a Senior Practitioner for Flintshire’s Children’s Permanency Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children’s Services who work with Looked After Children across Flintshire.

The post holder will need to have a recognised qualification in social work and have proven competence in work within Children’s Services. Effective communication skills including verbal and written are key to this role as is having the ability to create and maintain good working relationships with all parties. 

The post holder will give direct supervision and assistance for social workers in completing relevant reports and supporting them in the court arena. The role requires evidence of effective knowledge of current practices and the expectations of social services in the matter of applied legal and practical skills.

Working with a wide variety of agencies and professionals the role requires commitment, flexibility and a sound working knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989, the Leaving Care Act 2000 and knowledge of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) 2014.

The role demands the ability to build effective relationships with social services teams and forge strong collaborative partnerships with other agencies.  In addition, the successful candidate will evidence a passion and determination to meet the demands of this role

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Successful candidates must be registered with Social Care Wales and as this post will result in you having substantial contact with children, and/or vulnerable adults and will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services check.
