This is a challenging opportunity to contribute on the ongoing development and delivery of a unique and personalised provision of support to a 23 year old special needs young man.
He is very fit and interested in many things despite having severe autism, very limited speech, severe learning difficulties and behavioural problems. He likes to be outdoors and to be active, participates with his support workers a variety of activities including walking, swimming, cycling, trampoline, scooters and other physical activities.
You will need to enjoy the freedom of supporting him on a different programs of activities and be committed to developing his independence skills. You will need to be alert and able to assess dangers in the environment and be able to anticipate these and keep him safe. You will also be interested in learning how to support him in all areas of his life whilst enabling him to maintain appropriate excitement and emotional expression. He needs security and intelligent support to remain safe. You should be able to share his interests and to challenge him gently with new experiences though a genuine interest in his life. You will need to be helpful and observant of subtle changes in his demeanour that may signal pain, confusion, distress or anxiety.
You will be respectful of his family and exercise discretion with the knowledge accumulated through supporting him.
You will need to have a full EEU driving license
It will be a part-time job of 2 days a week with the possibility of going on a full-time position.

- Good computer and IT skills
- Good cooking and domestic skills
- Full EEU driving license required
- Non-smoker whilst at work

Qualifications Required
- Similar leisure interests
- Previous care or personal assistance experience
- GCSE, further or higher qualifications
- Autism training an advantage
