Operations Manager for innovative mental health social enterprise Talk for Health is a small, fast-paced, innovative mental health social enterprise. We teach lay people the skills of therapeutic talk and empower them to participate in ongoing groups. We run our service in Islington, funded by the NHS and our approach has been shown to be as effective as therapy. We are poised to grow and need a super-organised, ‘Make it Happen’ person to be our new Operations Manager. You will be the operational supremo of the organisation: planning, co-ordinating and overseeing delivery of our annual programme of trainings, events and ongoing groups. You will be able making things happen at a very high standard to meet demanding funder targets, often with low or no resource, You need to be an ingenious problem-solver, and persuasive in getting others’ help and support. As you go, you will ensure our systems are upgraded and streamlined; you need experience of designing and improving ops systems, as well as implementing them. You will have stamina and a ‘can-do’ approach. This is a start-up, entrepreneurial setting and the core team will be you, a part-time Operations Assistant, and our therapist Founder at our home-based office in NW3. You will also manage a team of 20+ off-site Associates and volunteers who a) deliver on the ground, and b) do outsourced functions. You are likely to have substantial experience of project and event management, and managing other people particularly volunteers. Read on for Job Description. Primary responsibilities include: Creating, updating and documenting effective project management systems Project management - including forward planning and day to day implemtation Event management and promotion - plan, schedule, organise venues for, and staff our programmes and events to meet deadlines/budgets. Ensure programmes and events are promoted and filled t Build and maintain good relations with Talk for Health stakeholders - including: funders; community referrers; host venue; those who use our service Ensure evaluation data is collected correctly, analysed, stored securely and reported to relevant stakeholders. Writing good copy/newsletter: Mailchimp; social media; flyers and posters; f Attending Talk for Health events, including up to 2 – 3 evenings per month and the occasional Saturday. Staff and volunteer management: engage with and manage relationships with all Talk for Health staff, volunteers (20+), and external speakers/facilitators; schedule team meetings for staff and volunteers. Ensure policies are adhered to - and updated as needed by our policy-writer. There scope, if you wish, to get involved in fundraising, or to train to lead our programmes. We would like someone who is: Expert with (or able to quickly learn) Project Management software, Excel, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Wordpress, Social Media and Customer Relationship Management systems Calm under fire. Persistent and not take ‘no’ for an answer; warm yet firm. Able to deal with people from all walks of life, including those in distress who may present with challenging behaviour. This role doesn’t give sanctuary from the stresses of the world but is an opportunity to lead operations in a fantastic social enterprise doing a worthwhile thing. The job is full-time and you will need to: Have your own computer – preferably Mac Spend up to 5 mornings per week in NW3 at our home-based office. The rest of the time you will work from home and/or in Islington, our main area of operation. Work some evenings and weekends This full-time position will begin with a 6-week trial period in May 2019. Remuneration is £32,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
