Title: Regional Delivery Officer (x2)

Location: London or Durham with regular travel across England

Contract: 1 year fixed term (with potential for 2 additional years)

Salary: £25-30k

Start: September 2019 (earlier if possible)

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) is an independent grant-making charity dedicated to breaking the link between family income and educational achievement, ensuring that children from all backgrounds can fulfil their potential and make the most of their talents.

We aim to:

  • raise the attainment of 3-18 year-olds, particularly those facing disadvantage;
  • develop their essential life skills; and
  • prepare young people for the world of work and further study.

We support teachers and senior leaders by providing free, independent and evidence-based resources, designed to improve practice and boost learning.

We do this by generating evidence of what works to improve teaching and learning, funding rigorous trials of promising but untested programmes and approaches.

We then support schools, as well as early years and post-16 settings, across the country in scaling evidence to achieve the maximum possible benefit for young people.

The EEF has used a number of methods to disseminate its evidence to schools and scale-up the adoption of promising evidence-based practice and programmes. As well as publishing and disseminating its resources (such as the Teaching and Learning Toolkit, guidance reports and evaluations of individual EEF-funded projects), the EEF has adopted more active approaches – including regional campaigns based around guidance reports; promoting evidence through the Research Schools Network; and incentivising schools to adopt effective programmes through Excellence Funds.

Background

As part of the next phase of its scale up work, the EEF is developing a new approach to regional work, which includes an expanded Research School network and regional coordination of school improvement support.

The two Regional Delivery Officers will provide support to the Regional Leads to deliver EEF’s new scale up approach. They will be at the centre of a small, dynamic and dedicated team, committed to ensuring schools in the most disadvantaged circumstances have access and take advantage of EEF’s full range of evidence, resources, capacity and support. For further information on the background of our Regional Delivery Strategy please visit our website and see the webpage 'Supporting school improvement in the regions'.

  • Provide logistical and administrative support to EEF’s newly formed six Regional Lead positions as they broker and coordinate evidence-informed school improvement activities.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Research School network to ensure they have the capacity to meet the demand for evidence-informed school improvement activity.
  • Travel to provide on-the-ground support for Regional Leads in conferences and events.
  • Provide support to Regional Leads and Research Schools as they organise and host regional and national conferences, events, training and roadshows. This includes, but not limited to:
    • Taking responsibility for booking facilities and refreshments
    • Ensuring preparation is on track and keeping speakers, delegates and coordinators informed through regular communication
    • Collating conference materials, including the printing, organisation of delegate packs to support events and training
  • Work closely with the wider EEF team to ensure that there is frequent communication between the EEF central team in London.
  • Form a cohesive team with the Data & Communications Analyst in particular to provide an effective central support team for the Regional Leads in keeping the flow of communication between the EEF team in London and the regions, including, but not limited to: supporting social media activity, Research School website development, monthly newsletter content and database maintenance.
  • Fielding questions and queries via phone and email regarding the Research Schools network and the regional teams.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the regions to update the EEF’s executive team.

Other responsibilities:

  • Contribute to an area of interest within the EEF and Research Schools network which is of particular interest to the candidate.
  • Undertake other duties which may from time to time be requested by the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive or Head of Dissemination and Impact

  • An ability to work well in a team and offer a hands-on approach
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • The ability to work independently and flexibly, as well as part of a team;
  • The capacity to prioritise and work across multiple projects, delivering a high volume of quality work to meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to travel outside London and occasionally stay overnight

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification;
  • Experience and understanding of the education environment;
  • A track record of project management and supporting complex initiatives across a school or organisation
  • A full driving licence
