The successful candidate will be employed by Falkirk Community Trust. The Trust is a charitable company set up by Falkirk Council to deliver culture, library, recreation and sport services on its behalf from 1 July 2011.
You will receive a generous benefits package which includes free membership of our health and fitness services.
We are looking for an organised and friendly personality to join us as a part time Archives Assistant. The role would help enable researchers and visitors to access to the archives collections and assist in their ongoing documentation, ensuring an effective balance between public access, and selection, care and conservation of archival material. The Archives and Public Search Room are located in our flagship visitor attraction, Callendar House.
Personable and approachable, you will have excellent communication skills and have experience in working with the public, preferably in an information sharing capacity.
Educated to graduate level or equivalent, preferably in history or related subject, you will have skills in documentation with careful attention to detail and accuracy and should be familiar with databases and inputting information.
Any applicants with an archive qualification will have the opportunity to take part in a range of projects that would develop an aspect of their professional experience. I.e. record keeping, cataloguing or digitisation.
You will demonstrate a flexible approach and an ability to work as an enthusiastic and professional advocate for Falkirk Community Trust with a range of stakeholders and users and will actively promote the Archives through the operation of the public search room.
You will work 27 hours per week
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to carry out a Disclosure Scotland check.
