Financial Accountant (part time)
As part of the central finance team the post holder reports directly to the Group Financial Controller. The role involves the provision of all necessary support to facilitate the effective operation of the team and to ensure it meets the needs in relation to the provision of central finance services.

Financial Accountant (part time)
Fixed Assets
- Responsible for completeness and accuracy of the Fixed Asset Register (incorporating c£200m of assets)
- Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and interface from FAR to GL
- Responsible for reporting of fixed assets, and providing support to relevant committees (e.g. Audit & Risk Committee)
- Conversion of WIP/ AUC to capitalised assets
- Provision of advice relating to capitalisation policy and practice
Statutory Reporting and Accounting
- Support the preparation of annual report and accounts, notably in respect of Fixed Assets
UK and International Tax Compliance and reporting
- Maintenance of capital goods register and assist with VAT recovery on qualifying assets
- Provide in-house specialist advice on tax matters, working with external advisers. Provide internal advice in relation to tax matters, including overseas taxation issues
- Corporation Tax - Liaise with external advisers on the timely preparation and submission of annual Corporation Tax returns
- VAT - Liaise with external advisors, prepare quarterly returns, maintain policies and procedures, carry out month and quarter end reconciliations
Balance Sheet Management, including Reconciliation
- Prepare other Balance Sheet reconciliations, investigate and highlight issues, and make recommendations for clearing erroneous balances
Research Grant Accounting
- Ensure statutory reporting of research grants income is auditable and in accordance with FRS 102
Long Term Cash Flow, Endowments and Covenants
- Preparation of the long-term cash flow forecasts, endowment accounting, and any covenant type reporting required by banks/ bondholders
Profile
Financial Accountant (part time)
Education and Qualifications
- Candidates must be at least part qualified (e.g. ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA)
Experience
- Management of Fixed Assets Register
- VAT and tax compliance
- Balance sheet management including reconciliations and cash flow forecasting
- ERP Finance Systems (e.g. Oracle)
