Macclesfield
£21,500 per annum pro rata for 17.5 hours per week at a rate of £11.02 per hour

SUSO (Speaking Up, Speaking Out) is an organisation run with and for adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. Our drop-in, open 4 days a week, provides opportunities for friendship and a range of activities to build skills, confidence and wellbeing. As part of our new project ‘No More Barriers’ supported by Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, we are launching a pop-up café to generate revenue and support our sustainability, provide work-based training to adults with learning disabilities and increase awareness about SUSO within our community.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our small, friendly team as a part-time Café Chef-Manager on a 3-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of an increase in hours.

The Café Chef Role
It is a very hands-on project so there is a lot to be gained in terms of small business experience. You will be hard-working and reliable and within the role your duties will include:

Menu planning, ingredient sourcing, preparing, cooking and serving creative meals, drinks making, general cleaning, stock taking and date rotation.

You will also have responsibility for:

Training and supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring safe practice and food safety, following the budget established by the Project Manager and working closely with them to increase revenue.

You will be working with the Project Manager, Activities and Training Lead and Project Coordinator to measure the success of the No More Barriers Programme for our funding providers.

Requirements for the Café Chef Manager Role
A creative approach to food, experience of running a catering project and working with and managing a team and excellent communication skills is essential. Experience of working with volunteers and an understanding of learning disability issues would be an advantage. There will be an expectation to work to deadlines and to facilitate some evening and weekend events.

Closing date: 12 May 2019
