We are recruiting Support Workers who can provide support to a number of individuals within our Registered Service, Drummond Court, in Bury St Edmunds.

We have a variety of contracts available, including Relief, Part Time and Full Time.

The shifts vary, depending on whom you are supporting, starting from 07:00 and the latest shift finishes at 22:00. As Shifts vary, flexibility is required across Mornings, Evenings and Weekends – All applicants would be expected to work 2 in 3 weekends (2 full weekends on, 1 full weekend off)

We have 2 houses at this service and in one of the houses you are supporting 4 people, 2 males and 2 females, and at the other house there are 4 males. The support will include all general day-to-day needs such as; all levels of personal care, which can include showering, bathing, toileting, dressing and potentially administering medication. The support will also include going out into the community for shopping trips, lunch and other activities that the people we support wish to do.

Around the house, you will encourage the individuals to do as much for themselves as possible, including keeping their personal space clean and tidy and the communal/shared areas of the home. You will get involved with the cooking in the home and teaching people to make their favourite dishes.

We put the people we support at the heart of Mencap and we make sure that they are as equally involved with the recruitment process as our recruitment team. We feel this is imperative in ensuring they receive a tailored and relevant service. We are only looking for committed people, as continuity and routine is essential for the people we support.

Full training is provided and fully paid for and the time you attend the training is paid for by Mencap.
