Introduction
One of our priorities has always been to reflect our diverse customer community with an equally diverse group of employees and in 2017, we set ourselves the aim of operating with a gender equal team by 2025.

Striving hard to accomplish this we have launched our latest campaign #LevellingtheField  -with the aim of attracting more female Residential Field Technicians.

Right now, we have a number of roles which are open to men and women. We are encouraging women to apply because our female workforce is less represented in this area. Therefore, it’s super important for us to reflect the communities that we serve – not just for Field Technicians but also for STEM roles in general and this is just the beginning.

It’s all about getting the best from a diverse workforce and encouraging more women to bring their skills to tech-based roles, which is why we’re looking for proactive tech-lovers to join us as Residential Field Technicians.

To be clear, we welcome applications from everyone, not just females. Click apply if you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you!

The role
So what is a Residential Field Technician? They’re the people that connect our customer to everything that matters to them.  They go into customers’ homes to install and repair our products, sharing advice and tips on how to get the very best out of those products.

Bringing the unexpected to our customers with heartfelt service you’ll go the extra mile to make sure they like Virgin Media just as much as you do.

You don’t need any technical experience beyond an interest in Telecoms, IT or electrics. Our training programme will get you up to speed. Then, it’ll be a case of grabbing your van and visiting customers.

When you join, you will be given comprehensive training in the role, and of course given on-going support, you can trust us to do the right thing by you. We want to set you on a fascinating career path where every day is different, whilst building connections with some really interesting people.

Who we’re looking for
If you have a logical approach to solving problems and get a buzz out of helping people along with an interest in technology such as smartphones, tablets and PCs, this could be the role for you. You’ll need:
•    A full, valid UK driving license
•    To be comfortable speaking with our customers over the phone
•    A logical approach to work and problem solving
•    The willingness to work outside in all weathers
•    An understanding of working safely at heights, and to be comfortable doing so

Customer service experience would help but isn’t essential by any means.

What’s in it for you
There’s great training and lots of opportunities to move into more senior roles. Plus, we’ve made sure the rest of the package is really impressive too.

•    25 days’ holiday, plus three extra days when you’ve been here five years
•    Your birthday off, every year!
•    A generous contributory pension
•    Discounts on our broadband, mobile, voice and media services, and money off other Virgin Group products, services and experiences

Through four multi-award-winning services - Virgin Fibre, Virgin TV, Virgin Mobile and Virgin Phone - we help people access technology so they can do more, be more and have more fun.   Join and you’ll be part of the Virgin Media family. You can trust us to do the right thing by you.

Equal Opportunities
We are proud to work with Everywoman to champion the advancement of women in business, and through our partnership with Scope to help one million disabled people get into and stay in work by the end of 2020.

We strive to build a diverse and sustainable workforce where gender balance and fairness are integral features of our workplace, and where disabled candidates and employees can confidently perform to their full potential through our Work with Me adjustment process.

If you are thinking about applying for a job with us and have a condition or impairment that could impact your performance, we’ll be happy to work with you to explore adjustment options.

Things to consider before you apply
Before you apply, please take a moment to ensure you are happy with the advertised salary and shift pattern above.

This role will require you to travel within an hour’s radius of the advertised location. In submitting your application, you agree you that you are happy with this information, and would like our recruitment team to review your application accordingly.

If you are successful in your application, you may be required to stay away from home during parts of the induction training.  The induction dates and timings will be explained during the Assessment Centre stage of the application process - we are unable to authorise any annual leave during the induction.
