What is the purpose of this role?

 

To provide support to a Senior and/or Principal Engineer within a design team to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards and that project deliverables are completed to programme and to quality requirements.

 

What will this role involve?

 

Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence Work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others Supervise and offer guidance to less experienced or junior staff Develop designs in accordance with the Client’s requirements and relevant design Assist in planning, supervision and delivery of effective ground investigations Prepare and check feasibility studies, outline designs and detailed designs, factual and interpretive reports, geotechnical appraisals / assessments and other technical documents Assist in the development of engineering solutions Develop and maintain good working relationships with all external and internal parties to enhance the reputation of the company and organisational business unit Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations Supervise subcontractors and engage in client and third party liaison Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts, when required Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment What are we looking for?

 

BSc, BEng, MEng or MSc in a geotechnical/geological science (or Civil Engineering + Geotechnics) Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS office suite and geotechnical design software Demonstrable experience in rail and/or highways Some experience of the design process and team management Some experience in ground investigation and geotechnical design Good communication skills dealing with clients, third parties and the public Client focused approach to service delivery Environmental awareness Tool Box talk IOSH working safely  What makes this role unique?

 

You will be responsible for ensuring that technically sound design solutions are produced, including all associated reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (particularly Eurocode 7).
