The Company is currently looking for a dedicated, organised Deli Chef to join their deli style open kitchen, at their unique and exciting award-winning hotel and deli - restaurant in Southampton. The position can be part time or full time permanent.

A Deli Chef role at this Company is like no other. You will be working with a Deli style menu that is influenced by the kitchens garden and the local producers in the area, as well as from their other award-winning venues, which can change by the hour and certainly every day. It can be challenging at times but very rewarding.

You will work with an ever changing fresh and vibrant menu, sometimes on your own and sometimes with the help of the team, with food service running 7 days a week from 12:00 till 20:00. Your hours could be part time or full time, depending on your requirements.

Key Features of the Role:

As a Deli Chef you will be required to;

·Work with an ever changing fresh and vibrant Deli style menu.

·You may be responsible for the standard of food prepared, cooked and displayed.

·Work enthusiastically as a member of a busy team.

  • Undertake training and development from Senior Chefs within the business.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling and chopping.
  • Maintain fridges and other food storage areas, monitoring and recording temperatures.
  • Cook and plate food according to agreed recipes and standards.
  • Operate in a compact deli kitchen space which mainly services a range of leaf, grain, seed and mixed vegetable salads, as well as cold and hot bites for lunch and supper, (smoked fish, cured meats, Quiches, Cottage and Shepherd’s Pie, as well as other pies and cakes).
  • All cooked and prepared in a safe manner and ensuring correctness of temperatures

Knowledge and Skills Required:

You should be an accomplished Cook or Chef with experience of working in a fresh food Deli Counter service or kitchen, at a similar level.

Above all you must be a real “foodie” able to spread the word to the Company’s customers about the importance of the art of serving good, fresh and local food in an ever-increasing world where convenience is becoming the norm, they need people who have a love and passion for all things food.

You should possess ambition to continually push yourself to move up to the next career level.

Your practical experience should ideally be supported by some form of catering qualification.

You will be a great team player with good organisational skills with the ability to thrive in a busy city centre hotel and deli style restaurant, where the Company’s reputation for consistently preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to the right quality, is second to none.

You should have a passion for producing the perfect dish every time, having a desire to aim for high standards.

Previous experience in a similar role requiring a broad food knowledge and precise attention to detail is essential, with fresh, quality food and someone who can thrive under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.

The Company wants their Deli Chef to be as passionate and enthusiastic. In this unique venue you will focus on a deli style menu offering leaf, grain, seed and a variety of mixed salad dishes, along with quick bites that are cooked from fresh, smashed avocado, Quiche, Pies, Ploughman’s Platters, smoked fish, cured meats and quite a large vegetarian menu.

What’s on Offer?

A basic salary of £19K – £20K pro-rata per annum based on working hours (part time or full time) plus Tronc worth around £2500 per annum. No live-in option is available.

Working hour can vary depending on your requirements for part time or full-time hours, the venue serves food 7 days a week from 12:00 till 20:00.

Holiday entitlement is 20 days plus all bank and public holidays, rising by 1 day each year for 5 years, again this will be pro-rata if you are part time hours.
