Working in a team of 8, you will perform a mixture of operational and development activities supporting Next’s eCommerce environment, predominately based at Next's Head Office in Leicester but occasionally requiring work in and around other UK based sites.

The Role
The operational side of the role will include proactive monitoring, incident management and resolution, change management, problem management, request management, disaster recovery, maintaining environmental records of Next’s eCommerce infrastructure and strategy planning for Windows & Linux environments, backups, monitoring, automation.

Development activities include the delivery of server/infrastructure platforms and solutions that meet Next’s eCommerce business requirements.You will use physical and virtualised server platforms, deploying core Microsoft and Linux internet services using scripted/automated builds.

In addition the successful candidate will take part in a callout rota.Overtime and flexibility of shift changes are expected as many systems can only be installed or changed outside of normal business hours. The Technical Services eCommerce Team operate a shift rota. Extended cover will be required to coverpeak periods.


Criteria


Essential
· IT experience working in a large corporate environment
· Flexibility to cover unsociable hours and peak periods at short notice
· Experience using Microsoft technologies in the server and application arenas
· Experience using Linux in the server and application arenas
· Experience using PowerShell, VBScript and/or other programming experience
· Proven knowledge and use of the following technologies:-
o Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016 Server, Microsoft failover clustering, Microsoft IIS 6/7/8, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Systems Centre Operations Manager (MS SCOM), System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), TCP/IP, VMware vSphere v5.1/HyperV,

· Microsoft SQL Server
· Capacity Planning
· HP/Dell Server Hardware
· Experience mentoring less experiences colleagues/team members
Experienced taking a lead role in co-ordinating the timely diagnosis and resolution of major issues
