What is the purpose of this role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support the environmental impact assessment of major infrastructure projects in Scotland. In addition to this, the individual may be involved in supporting a wide range of environmental and energy consultancy work in a variety of different sectors. Duties will include environmental assessment and providing advice and guidance on environmental concerns and suitable technological solutions.

 

What will this role involve?

  • Advise on environmental aspects of projects including but not limited to EIAs, stakeholder consultation and environmental hazards.
  • Prepare scoping reports
  • Assist with planning submissions and permitting for projects
  • Ensure compliance with Health and safety, Environmental and other appropriate regulations
  • Provide guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and project requirements
  • Keep up to date with industry best practice and where, appropriate, brief other environmental staff
  • Liaise with clients on technical matters
  • Produce information for PQQs and Tenders, timekeeping; technical training requirements;
  • Provide input into project quality plans

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in Environmental science or other relevant (Planning desirable)
  • Membership of IEMA/IES above graduate level
  • Clean driving Licence
  • Able problem solving, knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety, and other relevant legislation
  • Experience of DMRB and planning
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Experience in EIAs
  • Provision of environmental advice to ensure legal compliance
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Good communication and presentation skills

This position is that of an assistant environmental practitioner specialising in land use and community studies but with opportunities to support and develop in other areas of environmental assessment work, and over a number of different sectors.
