Job Details

We are seeking to appoint a Business Operational Risk Manager (BORM), at Executive level, to support our Business Services Division, Human Resources, Digital Transformation & Data (BSD/HR/DTD). Based in London, you will ensure Operational Risk is appropriately addressed and managed within Market Operations in line with Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management framework and facilitate the continued improvement in operational risk awareness and culture within BSD/HR/DTD and more broadly for our Corporate Operations Group.

Your role will be responsible for identifying operational issues and control breakdowns through the Risk & Control Self Assessment, proactive controls assurance deep-dives and through incident investigation and reporting. You will highlight any controls issues to management and work collaboratively with your team on appropriate responses. This role will be responsible for conducting operational risk workshops and training and driving reviews of Group wide policies and procedures. You will undertake analysis and reporting for risk information on a routine and exception basis, presenting clear and concise findings to the team and business leads.

To be successful you will be tertiary degree qualified with a minimum of two years operational risk experience (investment banking exposure will be advantageous). Alternatively, you will have experience working within Operations and are passionate about a career transition into Risk. The ability to think laterally with strong problem-solving skills and to grasp abstract concepts and complex situations is essential. Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capacity to initiate and lead conversations with business leaders and risk management colleagues regarding anticipated and emerging issues are essential. You will be comfortable working within a dynamic, face paced environment.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.

Because of this, our commitment to you is to create a diverse and inclusive workplace regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity or cultural background.

We make this commitment not only because it is the right thing to do but it opens up a world of opportunity, securing the future of our people, our success and our business
