HR Officer

£28,000 - £33,000 per annum depending on experience plus excellent benefits and working environment

Full time role although 30 hours over 5 days considered for the right candidate

UK's leading provider of independent postal advice and management services is seeking a HR Officer to support the Group HR Manager in providing a generalist, professional HR function to support the business covering all areas of the employment lifecycle.

The HR Officer will support the Group HR Manager in the implementation of HR activities which support the business’s strategic goals. This is a standalone role with support from the Group HR Manager and one part-time HR administrator. At least 3 years generalist HR experience gained in a commercial head office environment and/or operational level support required.

This is a busy, interesting HR Officer role which will be based at the Head Offices which is moving from Portishead to Filton at the end of the year. In return for your hard work, you will be part of a small lively team and based in fabulous brand new purpose-built offices above the working depot and parking will be available. 

Duties of the HR Officer:

  • Ensure the company’s HR policies and procedures are followed
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation & HR best practice
  • Proactively support and advise line managers on all HR matters including recruitment, performance management, training & development, grievance & disciplinary and employment law (with support from Group HR Manager where necessary)
  • Administering the company’s group personal pension scheme and ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment
  • Assist Finance Direct with monthly payroll
  • Maintain training and development records to ensure compliance with the company’s ISO quality accreditation
  • Coordinating the recruitment and selection strategy of new employees including issuing offer letters, preparing employment contracts and confidentiality agreements, coordinating induction programmes
  • Ensure leavers are processed following correct procedure
  • Responsible for administering the annual appraisal process
  • Dealing with contractual issues such as salary, sickness, annual leave etc, with support from the Group HR Manager
  • Maintain and update electronic HR software database and paper HR records
  • Maintain annual leave, absence and sickness records
  • Maintain and administer company benefits schemes
  • Produce regular HR reports
  • Assist Group HR Manager and other HR related projects and activities, as and when required
  • Champion a culture which fosters an engaged, happy, motivated and productive workforce

Skills and person specification required of the Account Administrator:

  • CIPD member Associate level
  • A level education although degree level desirable
  • Computer literate – good general level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good communication skills, both written, verbal with the ability to communicate effectively with all positions within the organisation
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Calm with a “can do” attitude
  • Full clean driving licence
