The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are on the search for a HR Advisor who is looking for a job share opportunity working a fixed Monday and Tuesday. You will work within a busy, diverse team and will report into the HR Operation Delivery Manager based in the Human Resources branch of the Directorate of Strategy and Corporate Services. 

You will be responsible for supporting the management of HR’s Expert HR Services and management of the HR administration function. 

Role responsibilities 

As part of the role, your responsibilities will also include: 

• management of HR Expert Services to include Occupational Health (HML), Civil Service HR Casework, DfT HR Advice Team, Departmental Resourcing Group (DRG) and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) 

• arranging meetings, monitoring and managing the HR Issues Log, collating MI, assisting with the publication of communications and updates to the business, dealing with queries and customer complaints 

• managing the implementation and embedding of any changes or updates to DfT HR Group Policy, to include sending out communications to the business and ensuring all relevant updates are made to MCA Staff Handbook 

• assisting with the effective administration of Personal Injury (PI) claims and Coastguard Rescue Officer (CRO) Compensation Injury Benefit Scheme Claims 

• assisting with the management of the MCA's Performance Management process to include; assisting with communications and updates to the business, collating and providing MI 

• supporting the management of the MCA's recruitment requests to include; permanent, fixed term contracts, expression of interests, deputising and contract extensions 

• responsible for the training administration for non-technical training courses, ensuring that all professional skills requests are processed 

• liaising with Talent and Capability colleagues to provide sufficient admin support on development programmes, to include Growing Potential and Propel 

• assisting with HR projects and adhoc tasks as required

About you 

You will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a heavy workload. You are someone who is thorough with their work and loves seeing your work through to completion. 

We would love a confident individual with excellent communication skills in varying circumstances, able to tailor this to your audience. You are an individual who enjoys liaising with others and can express yourself in a confident and concise manner. 

As our ideal candidate, you’ll have strong organisational skills and work well under pressure to deliver against demanding deadlines and have a knowledge of HR processes. 

You’ll have HR experience and hold a CIPD qualification or be willing to work towards it. 

You will be willing to travel regularly within the UK, including overnight stays. 

Please note, for this role you must be available to work Mondays and Tuesdays

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
