Anglia Revenues Partnership has 2 opportunities available for a Housing Benefit Overpayment to join the team based in Thetford. You will join us on a full time or part time fixed term basis of 12 months and in return will receive a competitive salary of £18,389.
As our Housing Benefit Overpayment you will undertake a full range of recovery duties to ensure that all income due in respect of housing benefit overpayments and other charges are promptly and efficiently collected.
Roles we are recruiting for:
Breckland Council - 1 x 12 month contract, 37 hours
East Suffolk Council - 1 x 12 month Part time contract, 22.2 hours
Key duties and responsibilities of our Housing Benefit Overpayment:
- Process all types of housing benefit overpayments within targets and deadlines
- Respond to enquiries by an appropriate method in an appropriate manner
- Assist with the required reconciliations and controls
- Make the appropriate enquiries to ascertain relevant circumstances
- Negotiate payments and arrangements and monitor the subsequent recovery
- Send cases to the bailiffs/collection agents as provided in the relevant policy and deal with the subsequent enquiries
- Provide a helpful and courteous service for the administration of Housing Benefit overpayment
- Assist with any court procedures and assist the councils representative at the court as required
Skills and experience required to become our Housing Benefit Overpayment:
- Good general education - 2 GCSE grades, A-C or relevant Revenues experience
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with conflict
- Demonstrate good numerical and writing skills
- Knowledge of computer packages, including the Microsoft Suite and have the sufficient knowledge and skill to be able to use computers effectively
- Demonstrate experience or understanding of customer care, both to internal and external customers
- Demonstrate ability to deal with customer enquiries in an appropriate, diplomatic and professional manner
- Be able to remain calm and confident when dealing with a variety of people/challenging situations
