Royal Voluntary Service is an innovative charity that focuses on inspiring people to give the gift of voluntary service to support the NHS and older people at home and in the community.

The Local People's Project is a community engagement and development programme operating in specific postcode areas in Biddulph, Staffordshire Moorlands. We are now seeking a Community Engagement Worker to join us for a 24 hour per week part time contract until December 2019. Dependent on funding, there is potential for the contract to be extended until December 2020.

If you have a proven track record of delivering community development and engagement activities, this is an incredible opportunity to make a positive, lasting impact with a forward-thinking organisation.

In this exciting role, you will have the chance to work alongside a team of dedicated practitioners, be part of the Local People’s Project and deliver valuable, meaningful activities for older people.

As a Community Engagement Worker, you will support the smooth running and development of the Local People’s Project.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will engage with groups of older people in the local area that suffer from health inequality. Providing support through a variety of methods, you will empower and help them to clearly identify issues and design and co-produce their own sustainable solutions.

Reporting to the Project Manager, your role will also involve:

- Delivering community engagement programmes and initiatives aimed specifically at harder to reach groups
- Ensuring that project resources are spent within the terms of the overall grant award
- Supporting sustainable solutions through practical advice and support
- Identifying opportunities to publicise the project’s success
- Contributing to the overall development of community-based projects

Interested? To be considered, you will need:

- Experience of delivering community development, engagement activities and co-production
- Previous experience of successfully working with communities and enabling them to develop their own solutions
- Project management skills gained in a fast-paced development setting

Motivating and inspiring, as a Community Engagement Worker, you’ll have excellent communication skills, a well organised approach and the ability to positively influence others. Effective relationship building skills will also be vital.

This is a part time role working 24 hours per week on a flexible fixed term contract until December 2019. Dependent on funding, this has the potential to be extended until December 2020.
