The UK Hydrographic Office is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.

IC-ENC is the International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts.  It is a community of National Hydrographic Organisations working together to establish a combined quality ENC Database to enhance safety of navigation at sea. The UK IC-ENC General Manager and their team are based at the UKHO and report to the National Hydrographer, whilst the ENC Data Validation team sit within Customer Division, where they form part of the wider Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS) Production Team.

As an IC-ENC Data Validator, you will be responsible for the validation of Electronic Navigational Chart data produced by Hydrographic Offices (HOs), and for the inclusion of such data into the IC-ENC service.  Your key objectives will be to:

  • Ensure that data is thoroughly validated and quality controlled in a timely manner
  • Ensure that data is available for supply to IC-ENC’s VARs
  • Contribute to other IC-ENC service improvement projects

You will need a good understanding of geographic data principles (e.g. vector data capture and attribution) with a good understanding of Quality Assurance requirements and procedures.
