Based within award winning offices in Taunton, Somerset, the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) are seeking a proven C#/Java Software Test Engineer to shape our manual and automation testing capability. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven test engineer, to challenge themselves working on cutting edge technology across multiple projects.

UKHO develops and serves world leading geospatial software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. We use devops, cloud technologies, big data and agile practices to deliver the new technology platforms to underpin our changing organisation.

The Senior Test Engineer will work across programmes providing technical expertise in test automation, designing, building, testing and deploying effective test automation solutions within multiple scrum teams, whilst mentoring and advising other team members in test practices. You will work primary within the Visual studio domain for C# writing both the initial behaviour driven development tests (for automated/manual tests) and then the automated test code itself. More specifically you will be challenged to:

  • Provide fast, reliable feedback to the development teams using automated tests;
  • Ensure that the right level of automation is applied to each project;
  • Ongoing maintenance of automated tests as part of the overall process;
  • Design and build test cases with expected results;
  • Conduct a range of different software testing types (Including Unit, Integration, Automation, Regression and Exploratory testing; interpreting and executing sets of moderately complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards);
  • Operate the organisation’s software testing tools effectively and follow procedures and techniques correctly.

We require evidence of ability to write well-structured code, creating robust and reusable tests. We emphasise quality and have high standards for design, test automation and continuous delivery.
