Music Technician - 28.8 hours a week (4 days) - Part Time - Creative and Enterprise Directorate - Hertford Regional College - Broxbourne Campus - Permanent
About the role
As the Music Technician your role is to be responsible for the safe management of the music accommodation, equipment and students. You will also be responsible for sound engineering at student concerts and recordings.
You will be required to provide support to teaching staff and learners within the area of Music, Media and Performing Arts. This will include instructing students in the correct and best use of the music recording equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, advising on recording and production techniques using your knowledge and experience of the equipment and software.

You will be required to make simple repairs to equipment and maintain the music equipment to meet the College's Health & Safety requirements and assist staff in the preparation of the music studio and ensure that appropriate materials are ordered and maintained correctly in conjunction with the Senior Technician.

Part of the role will be to attend and engineer live events and assist with student recruitment events such as Open Days and Evenings so a degree of flexibility will be required.

  • Music industry knowledge coupled with motivation and passion for the subject
  • Self-motivation and desire to help students achieve their potential
  • Ability to demonstrate recording techniques, use of DAW software and a live sound mixing console
  • Ability to set up and maintain a music recording studio environment
  • Awareness and willingness to follow exemplary Health and Safety practice

Hours: 28.8 hours per week (4 days a week), 52 weeks per year
Salary: S2 £17,000 - £17,750 FTE (Actual Salary £13,600 - £14,200) per annum
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus bank and public holidays (pro rata).
