Job Details

The Company:
Ubiqus Ireland was established in 2003 and is part of a multinational transcription organisation with offices in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain, Canada and the USA.

Our work concentrates on transcribing spoken events such as UK Civil & Criminal Court hearings and Legal Interviews (English language), Corporate Conferences, Disciplinary Hearings and Conference Calls.

Our roles offer the opportunity to work from home with flexible scheduling while you earn a competitive, freelance rate. Freelancing for Ubiqus is not compatible with a full-time job, but our freelance transcriber base includes parents of young children, university and postgraduate students, former PAs and secretaries, amongst others.

The Job:

We are currently recruiting for a role that involves two distinct types of tasks. An individual job/assignment can involve one or both of the following:

1)  Transcription / Audio Typing "from scratch". Transcribing content from mostly Legal Court Hearings, to provide a verbatim record of that hearing. Legal transcription work demands largely verbatim transcription, for which a legal background is useful but not essential.  Our freelance legal transcribers mainly produce verbatim transcripts of court proceedings and legal interviews for a wide range of clients, including Legal Firms and Government Departments.

2)  Editing of transcripts already produced, to ensure they are accurate, faithful to the original audio file, and that they conform to specific style rules, formatting template etc. This involves listening to the recording of the meeting / court hearing, while editing the transcript accordingly.

Our editing / transcription staff include former PAs, legal secretaries and administration staff, amongst others.

The Person:

We’re seeking flexible staff.  Successful applicants will work on a freelance basis, and providing the work is completed and submitted by the agreed deadlines, you can choose to work around the hours that suit you best.

Preferably you should have a typing speed of 70-80wpm or above, an excellent eye (and ear) for detail and be able to work effectively on your own initiative.  Audio typing experience, a broadband internet connection, and your own PC/laptop is essential.

Applying:

- Apply online via this advertisement only please, as we are unable to respond to individual queries from applicants.

- Please state on your cover letter if you are currently in full or part-time employment, and what your current typing speed is. We do not ask that you work a set number of hours each week, but ideally we are looking for candidates who are interested in taking large volumes of work, and have good availability.

If you require any background information on the company please go to www.ubiqus.ie.

If we progress your application to the next stage, we will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Please be aware that the recruitment process will be completed over the next six to eight weeks. It may take us this length of time to respond to applicants. We thank you in advance for your patience.
