Becoming a Medical Underwriter with Capita Life, Pensions & Specialist:

What you will do:

  • Pro-actively assess Underwriting cases on products that may vary on client accounts to ensure that business is written efficiently and effectively within budget limitations

  • Interpret client philosophies to ensure that underwriting decisions are made in line with this guidance

  • Provide thorough and robust justifications of decisions and refer cases to third parties, including CMO, reassurers and client company contacts in an accurate and clear manner

  • Deliver an accurate, efficient and quality service in line with the CLPS service level agreements and receive good feedback following internal and external underwriting audits

  • To communicate well both verbally and in writing to give clear instruction, adhere to TCF, manage customer expectations and portray Capita's high standards of underwriting services

Your experience will include:

  • Previous experience of medical/life underwriting

  • Experience of protection platforms

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous autonomy in this field and used to interpreting Underwriting Philosophies and nonstandard medical conditions

  • Previous understanding of commercial risk in an underwriting context

  • Liaise with management to agree, plan, implement and monitor daily/weekly targets and service levels

  • Good knowledge of products, services and systems
