About the team

Our Business Recovery Services practice is the largest restructuring practice in the UK operating from 23 offices. Operational Restructuring (OR) is a fast growing business within BRS that assists management teams to deliver rapid performance improvement (cost and cash focus) working with corporates facing a degree of stress or challenge to implement within a constrained time frame. In joining our Operational Restructuring team you will be working across a breadth of sectors primarily located in the South East both securing and delivering engagements supporting clients with rapid cost reduction, change management and working capital improvement focused on identifying and implementing sustainable performance improvement and free cash flow.

 

Following a successful recent years of growth in a number of regions we have rapidly grown the team across the country and we are looking to appoint a Senior Manager/Director in the South East to join the regional team and lead the development of the business in this key region.

 

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager/Director to play a key role in the growth and development of our Regional OR business. The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside the wider BRS leadership team in the region to build corporate relationships and opportunities. You will be working with high-profile clients experiencing stress/distress to their business model and who require transformation or improvement, spanning a broad range of industry sectors. This role will be a key appointment for our team, with the successful applicant involved in and leading on developing our business proposition across the South East.

 

As a Senior Manager/Director you’ll have the ability to build strong commercial relationships with a range of high profile stakeholders and clients across the region using the support and expertise of the wider OR team. In addition to building out our market within the South East you’ll be leading teams of operational restructuring professionals delivering a range of services to our clients. As such we’re looking for someone who can motivate a team and ensure they flourish alongside our growing business.

 

Your work will include

  • Working with a newly developed team to expand the current business

  • Playing a pivotal role in pipeline generation

  • Playing a leading role in identifying new business leads through to pitch and delivery

  • Understanding key business processes and working capital requirements

  • Identifying quick wins to improve earnings and build stakeholder confidence

  • Identifying cash levers to smooth cash flow/ conserve cash

  • Helping clients realise cash quickly from their operations through working capital management

  • Supporting our clients management teams to develop and implement a turnaround or transformation programme

  • Lead on assessing operational and management teams within an organisation, identifying skill gaps

  • Taking a “hands-on” role to manage stakeholders and inspire change

  • Providing robust management and monitoring of change programmes

  • Being responsible for the day to day leadership of projects with minimal oversight from a Director/Partner

  • Lead on and oversee presentations and/or reports to key stakeholders (e.g. Board, management.)

 

You will also be expected to take an active part in our team’s development and will typically

  • Lead on the teams marketing efforts (both internal and external)

  • Be an active counsellor, coach and role model to junior team members

 

The role will be based in Reading but requires some flexibility to travel throughout the UK, with the potential to travel overseas, depending on client requirements

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of turnaround/transformation or operational improvement programmes

  • Demonstrable experience of business development and involvement in winning new business.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work in turnaround situations and at pace

  • Experience either with or working alongside advisory from a management consultancy, corporate finance advisory firm or as an 'internal consultant' in a corporate business

  • Operations experience, across one or more sectors engineering, financial services, retail, industrial, consumer, high tech, utilities, logistics, telecoms and energy etc.

  • Competent with spreadsheets, financial and operational KPIs. Comfortable with financial analysis
