Job Details

Becoming a System Support Developer with FERA Science Ltd:

As System Support Developer you will provide effective support and issue resolution - this will involve; monitoring scheduled tasks and activities; reporting on volume and type of support tickets; undertaking minor enhancements on existing systems, all of which may involve liaising with colleagues (including service desk staff, developers, managers, and system users)

What you will do:

  • Monitor the development support queue, prioritising tickets and be responsible for addressing priority support tasks in a timely manner.
  • Monitor scheduled tasks and processes, raising tickets for any issues/failures, and be responsible for addressing any errors reported in a timely manner.
  • Monitor webmaster inbox and be responsible for raising tickets and addressing any errors reported.
  • Notify managers of any ongoing issues as they become evident and escalate any ticket which cannot be resolved within required timeframe.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure issue resolution
  • On a daily basis, provide a summary of support work in order to ensure effective work prioritisation across the team.
  • Provide maintenance and sometimes minor change for existing systems as necessary.
  • Carry out all development within a version controlled environment to defined coding standards.
  • Your experience will include:
  • Educated to degree level or similar in IT, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with working in a version controlled environment.
  • Develop web-applications using HTML, CSS, Javascript and one or more of php, ColdFusion, or front-end framework such as Bootstrap, jquery, Angular
  • Relational database, preferably MySQL, or MS SQL Server
  • An understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Ability to write clear, concise and well-documented code
  • Understanding of CSS, HTML, and one or more of php, ColdFusion, JavaScript, JQuery
  • Understanding of development frameworks
  • Desirable
  • Experience of using Jira, and SVN SubVersion and/or Git
  • Experience of developing using a development framework., e.g., Laravel php framework, Angular
  • Experience of implementation, enhancement, or administration of CMS such as Drupal, Wordpress etc.
