Sugarman are now recruiting community-based Support Workers for a market-leading care organisation based in York. Successful applicants will deliver person-centred care to vulnerable people with complex needs in a residential or supported living environment and out within the community.
Job Responsibilities:
As part of the role, you will provide personal care and vital teaching and guidance of interpersonal life skills.
You will create positive lasting relationships and promote vulnerable people to grow as individuals, allowing them to gain confidence and access services and groups within their local community.
To help in the care of the service users' physical environment and in the general day-to-day.
Maintain Individual Care Plans for service users.
Administer medication when assessed competent.
Carrying out sleep-in/night duty as required.
Essential Requirements:
Experience in working with people who have learning disabilities & Challenging Behaviours.
Follow all support, policy, process and regulatory guidelines at all times.
Work from planned rotas, including sleeping-in support shifts as required
Adaptable, caring, open-minded, flexible.
Good communicator. Ability to understand and respond to non/verbal communications.
Ability to represent or advocate for service users as appropriate.
A self-driven and able to motivate others. Committed to good practice. To be a calming influence in times of distress for service users.
Build a relationship by working together, networking and interacting with the local community resources to engage the individual and their families.
All applications and offers are subject to a DBS (Criminal Record) check, half of the cost to be covered by applicant (£25)
Job Type: Ad hoc, Full-Time/Part-Time, variety of shifts available
Pay rate: £9/h.
