This is a fantastic opportunity for a Early Years Policy Manager to join our client at an exciting and challenging time for Scotland’s early learning and childcare (ELC) sector.

Position: Early Years Policy Manager

Location: Edinburgh

Hours: Part Time (30 hours per week)

Salary: £30,000 to £37,350 Pro rata

Contract: Permanent

The Role

Our client is anticipating an unprecedented level of public policy attention with less than twelve months until the full roll-out of the Scottish Government’s policy of delivering 1140 hours of ELC for all three and four-year-olds and eligible two-year-olds in Scotland.

As Early Years Policy Manager leading the organisations work in Scotland, you will play a key role in representing and supporting nurseries to deliver high-quality early learning and childcare. The Early Years Policy Manager will lead on the delivery of their work with the Scottish Government to support policy development and guidance.

The Early Years Policy Manager duties will include:

 

  • Managing the work of the Scotland team towards the overall strategic objectives.
  • Representing private and voluntary sector ELC providers with the Scottish Government.
  • Ensuring members have access to appropriate information, support and guidance.
  • Reporting on the delivery and financial status of key contracts and projects.
  • Ensuring the sustainability and identifying areas for potential growth.

 

About You

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Excellent relationship building skills and be able to digest information and analyse complex issues.
  • A good knowledge of the early years and childcare sector and the national and local government policy context for nurseries.
  • A good honours degree or equivalent.
  • The ability to lead a team and colleagues across the organisation to achieve results.
  • Project and budget management experience, with the ability to produce accurate reports and analysis.
  • A good knowledge of the early years and childcare sector, in particular the nursery sector.
  • Line management experience.
  • A proven track record of securing or delivering contracts.
