Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for a Deputy Finance Business Partner to provide support to the RNIR (Radio Network Infrastructure Replacement) Programme team. This is one of the largest programmes within MCA and this role gives you a unique opportunity to be part of this whilst developing finance and project related skills.

You will work closely with stakeholders of all levels including the Finance Business Partner (HM Coastguard) and Senior Finance Business Partners. This role will give you the responsibility for the day to day financial management of the RNIR programme and to participate in wider HM Coastguard financial activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy and diverse team and contribute to the achievement of the Agency’s financial objectives whilst building upon your current financial knowledge.
 

Responsibilities

The role responsibilities include:

• assist the Finance Business Partner and Senior Finance Business Partners in the financial management of the RNIR programme and HM Coastguard
• prepare high quality financial and non-financial information to all relevant stakeholders
• work with and constructively challenge the RNIR programme team, Directors, Assistant Directors and their respective teams to assist in developing corporate plans, business cases, medium term financial planning, Government Spending Reviews, budgeting and monthly forecasting of capital and programme spend
• provide input into the Final Business Case and corresponding investment appraisal of the RNIR programme and contribute to risk management planning
• maintain and update RNIR financial models to ensure efficient and relevant corporate reporting to various MCA Boards and Committees in line with meeting schedules with investigation and commentary into reported variances
• ensure compliance with the financial control requirements over RNIR programme and capital expenditure and supplier contractual obligations, working in close conjunction with the Finance team to ensure accounting standards and reporting timescales are adhered to
• assist in identify emerging financial and/or operational pressures and opportunities for savings, ensuring mitigation planning and appropriate reporting to management boards

This role will involve occasional travel within the UK which may include overnight stays.

About you

You will come with a qualification or part-qualification from a CCAB/CIMA, or hold an equivalent qualification.

You will have strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across all grades within the organisation. Your effectiveness in building strong relationships will enable you to challenge at all levels.

You are someone who loves to work closely with others and can express yourself in a confident and clear manner through your excellent communication skills. You will have the ability to effectively communicate complex information to others both verbally and in writing.

We are looking for someone who can manage and filter workflow as well as organise and prioritise workloads to maximise productivity. You must be adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements and strategic direction of the Agency.

You will be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel as we are looking for someone who can analyse and manipulate data with accuracy and efficiency.
