Debt Caseworker
37 hours per week (would consider part time)
£21,277 - £25,140 per annum (pro-rata)
Dudley
Our Dudley based client citizens advice is an independent and impartial advice service supporting people from all walks of life giving them the knowledge and confidence to find their way forward whatever their problem be it benefits, debt, money, work, consumer, housing, family, law, court, immigration, health etc.
Main purpose of the Job
Provide a comprehensive and confidential specialist casework service for clients
Contribute towards the delivery of a comprehensive advise for clients in line with the requirements of the contractual obligations
Take responsibility for the delivery of individual/ team targets and outcomesMain tasks and responsibilities
Act as a support, an advisor, an advocate and a representative on behalf of clients
To provide a flexible service, outside of normal working hours, if identified by the commissioned contract to meet the specific needs of citizens
Provide casework specific to the area of expertise as outlined in the contract
Act for a client where necessary calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
Negotiate with third parties as appropriate
Ensure income maximisation through the take up of benefits.
Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate.
Hold a level of caseload agreed with the Service Delivery Manager and commissioners and review on a regular basis, which will meet the contract requirements.
Monitor the level and range of casework undertaken to ensure an effective and high quality service is being offered to clients
Ensure that all casework conforms to the organisations and external parties quality expectations.
Active involvement n social policy work and production of evidence forms
To maintain accurate and up to date case records for continuity of caseworkThe ideal candidate will:
Have a minimum of 12 months full or part time experience of carrying a specialist debt advise caseload within the last 3 years
Demonstrate experience in money advice and a good understanding of the processes in dealing with debt cases and case work
Have experience of effective liaison with external stakeholders and partners and being a representative of an organisation
Proven ability to deal with sensitive issues and competing demands with judgement, tact and diplomacy
Have numeracy skills and the ability to work with established financial systems
