We have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced Commercial Manager within our team at the Maritime & Coastguard agency (MCA).
This role is key in the delivery of upgrading technology being used by the MCA’s 155 remote radio sites. Working closely with the Programme Manager you will influence ways in which this exciting investment can drive even greater value for money through collaboration with other government departments.

You will excel at working under pressure and within strict deadlines, all the while having no qualms about rolling your sleeves up and getting involved to guarantee that contract delivery targets are met.

You will manage the relationship with the contractor to ensure that any delivery issues are dealt with, within a timely manner and with minimum disruption to the service. You will drive them to meet if not exceed agreed KPI’s.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership to drive forward this highly critical programme at pace.
• Monitor the contractor's work for contractual compliance, identifying and mitigate any risks to service delivery and taking the appropriate action that might also require some intervention from the Authority.
• Ensure the programme adheres to budget and that any requests for access to contingency funds are managed using the appropriate governance process.
• Lead negotiations with the Contractor, to ensure delivery issues are managed effectively with minimum disruption to services. and where appropriate report any significant variances in service delivery and budget to the Programme Manager.
• Maintain the Contract Management Plan and ensure the service provider is meeting or exceeding the KPIs, taking appropriate action to escalate visibility of service delivery issues with the Programme Manager.
• Work with the Programme Manager to identify and pursue opportunities to leverage the investment in Radio Network Programme.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
