Careers Adviser - National Careers Service

Working on the National Careers Service as a Careers Adviser, you will be providing Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to adult customers through a range of media, including face to face delivery.

Areas required: West Sussex

Hours and Salary:

Part time available

Ongoing

£14-£16 per hour Umbrella

(equivalent to an annual salary of £23,323-£27,000)

Job objectives:

* To support customers to make career choices delivering information, advice and guidance on all matters relating to learning and work, including employment, education and training, using appropriate resources and tools

* Achieve a range of targets and quality measure as decided by the National Operations Manager using a case load management approach, exploiting a client management system effectively and continuing to actively determine customer destinations

* To determine the most suitable media for a customer’s on-going benefit and signpost to colleagues and partners where appropriate

* Ensure that knowledge, resources and information used in service delivery are up to date and relevant to customer need, specifically including an awareness of the opportunities available in the customer’s local area

* Ensure that all delivery evidence is complete and compliant in line with contract and quality standards and that all customer records are accurate and handled in accordance with appropriate confidentiality and data protection guidance and legislation

* To coordinate/support the booking line element of the service and ensure a professional and high-quality service is given to all customers

* To develop/grow/maintain the digital element of the service (3 channels) and manage/maintain promote all social media sites for the Career Line

* Ability to follow and operate within corporate guidance with regards to social media policy and brand guidelines for the National Careers Service

* Commit to training and CPD as necessary to support a high standard of delivery of the National Careers Service

* Be responsible for adhering to both local and the Corporate Safeguarding policy and procedures aimed at promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and at-risk adults and attend mandatory child protection and/or adult protection safeguarding and prevent training.

Scope

The work may involve working in more than one location and there will be travel involved in the job. It may be necessary to work outside normal office hours.

Person specification:

Essential

* Recent experience of working with adults in a related field, ideally determining need and supporting customer choices

* Contact Centre experience or experience of using telephony as part of an employed role

* Delivering to targets

Knowledge

Essential

* NVQ 4 in Advice & Guidance or equivalent

* General standard of education

* An understanding of and a commitment to, equality of opportunity for all

Desirable

* Knowledge of the local labour market and issues relating to learning and employment

* Experience of the career guidance sector
