You probably won’t know that at megabus, we’re obsessed with making coach travel cool again (#makecoachtravelcoolagain). So much so, that we now have sightseeing buses in London, our customers can reserve seats on board and we found time to give our coaches names, like Al Bus Dumbledore, Mega ‘n’ Harry and Basil Bus. Yes, really. It’s true.

If you are interested in joining a friendly team, enjoy understanding numbers, trends and trying to work out how much intercity travel is worth, we are the team for you! You’ll get to work across a wide variety of activities looking after specific routes, maximising passenger numbers and revenue. The role involves a lot of responsibility; you will have a direct impact on what customers see on our website when searching for our services, so you’ll need to be interested in what’s going on in the outside world that can affect the demand for travel, like where and when there are festivals, sporting events and holidays.

If you choose to apply to join us on a part-time, permanent basis you’ll be based at our megabus Head Office in Rugby, almost next door to the train station.

Main Purpose To deliver business growth and commercial objectives through implementing a pricing strategy to your given routes. Scope There is no direct line management responsibility, however, you will work as part of a growing team and be part of an ambitious company with opportunities to build a long term career at megabus and potentially within the wider Stagecoach company.

Principle accountabilities:

• Deliver optimum Revenue Management set-up on route/s to achieve revenue and volume targets

• Develop and maintain Yield Management Strategies for your allocated routes, minimise the risk of abstraction and management of busy periods

• Analyse revenue and volume performance and re-evaluate strategies to ensure changing market demand is reflected in how our services are priced

• Regularly review Megabus passenger and revenue performance including:

• Owning, updating and delivery of the route strategy • Analysis of competitor activity

• Feedback from customers, sales, agents and staff

• Review of performance against inventory key performance measures

• Expert use of decision support systems and tools

• Target driven performance

• Take daily decisions on pricing (Yield) actions

• Proactively plan for changing demand during special events and holiday periods to maximise revenue

• Ensure the Revenue Management system controls are accurately set, and comply with the team’s best practice

• Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and positive engagement with the Yield Strategy

• Monitor and report on the actions of our competitors in the marketplace, ensuring that megabus actions are appropriate, targeted, and effective both for special events and the more frequently occurring peaks

• Develop an understanding of the market dynamics impacting the relevant routes including airline, rail and other bus operators

• Both in terms of pricing (mid to long term) as well as in terms of general availability in the short term, communicate notable trends to all levels of management

• Interact closely with operations on reviewing passenger loads and route performance, in particular plan with the Operations Team on managing capacity for seasonal changes affecting megabus General Support

• Provide statistical analysis for your area of responsibility, and respond to business requests for analysis – requiring a high level of Excel knowledge

• Support the Head of Revenue and Yield to ensure key financial information is communicated in a clear and consistent way

• Provide general and presentational support to the Head of Revenue and Yield

• Integrate activity with other parts of the Commercial Department, to ensure consistency with marketing and sales strategies, and to support our product portfolio
