Position: Dementia Support Worker
Location: Northamptonshire Locality
Contract type: Part Time, Fixed Term 12 months (maternity cover)
Hours: 25 per week
Salary: £14,260 to £14,835 (depending on skills and experience)
Closing date: 26 September 2019
Interview date: 3rd October 2019
About the role:
Working within our team as a Dementia Support Worker you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide information and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; your role will help to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives.
You will offer support and guidance in a variety of ways: face to face, by phone, letter or email. A primary part of the role will be completing statutory Carers Assessments. You will assist peoples to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.
You will also facilitate support and activity groups on a regular basis.
About you:
We are looking for an individual who possesses NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) with an understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent non-judgmental communication skills as well as strong organisational and time management skills. This role involves regular use of IT packages; therefore a good standard of IT would be desirable.
Due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel independently across the whole of Northamptonshire.
You may have experience of the following: Dementia Support Worker, Care Assistant, Caseworker, Special Needs Assistant, Social Worker, Social Care, Community Care, Helpline Coordinator, Volunteering Officer, Support Worker, Dementia Adviser, Mental Health, Dementia etc
