Your new company

Due to the brand new exclusive partnership between Hays and West Midlands Combined Authority, we are now looking to recruit X10 Passenger Data Collectors also known as Field Officers to work in and around the West Midlands and surrounding areas. This is not a full-time vacancy as it is to cover 1 - 3 shifts per week on a casual basis. This role is due to start Tuesday 1st October with telephone interviews commencing week beginning 30th September. West Midlands Combined Authority are responsible for making transport happen in our day to day dealings with public transport via Bus, Train and Tram. As a Field officer you will be physically taking part in the stringency of the services provided and collecting data and feedback to be used to improve the transport service.

Your new role

As a Field Officer you will be working in and around the West Midlands and surrounding areas to collect data on behalf of the Customer Intelligence Team. The type of work will include working outdoors and completing surveys, interviewing passengers, going to bus shelters to act as physical customer service officers as well as counting passengers boarding or departing from busses to complete bus observations using data recording software. This is NOT a full-time vacancy as it is to cover 1 - 3 shifts per week on a casual basis which means this is an IDEAL role if you are looking for part time hours or casual work around other commitments, you may be required to work some weekends also. You will be paid at the rate of £10 per hour per shift and this will be paid weekly. You will be trained on how to perform this role and shown around numerous depots, stops and shelters. You will need to be registered in our Hays Birmingham offices for this role will be between 16th - 23rd September to ensure you will be shortlisted for telephone interviews taking place week beginning 2nd October. During telephone interview you will be asked to explain your customer service experience and skills you can bring to the role, as well as answer some competency-based questions.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate MUST have experience within a customer service setting or dealing with the public using strong communication skills. An element of I.T is crucial as you will need to operate the handheld data inputting systems with strong attention to details used when you are out on site. You MUST be a reliable asset to the team as shifts are casual, so attendance will need to be good when called for work, meaning applicants of a reliable and efficient work ethic will be highly considered and used more frequently. You MUST be able to work outdoors as most of the work requires you to attend bus shelters and stops which may be affected by weather conditions such as rain and wind/colder climates towards the winter season. Please note we will need an ex-employer reference from your last 2 most recent places of work to consider your application which we will discuss upon screening.
